In summer, the medieval heart of our Ripatransone hilltop town transformed into a vibrant open-air tasting room for Bolle in Scala. This is one of the must join events in Ripa. The iconic staircase becomes the backdrop for local wineries showcasing the finest wines from the Offida DOC.
While Sam stayed at the homestead enjoying some parent-free time, Gaby and Stefan partied in a rare night out together. A good break from the hard farm work, too. Free from antibiotics for the first day, Stefan was finally ready to raise a glass.
Instead of sticking to familiar bottles, we made it our mission to taste new producers, among them Ciù Ciù and Cantine Villa Imperium.
The week before we caught up with Bridget, our British neighbor. She brought a bottle of Ciù Ciù and Gaby absolutely loved it, so we couldn’t resist another sip. Our favorite discovery of the night however was Cantine Villa Imperium. Villa Imperium had the absolute most attentive person working their stand, and their sparkling pours and white wines tasted perfect in the moment.
Stefan also caught up with the friendly face from Club dei Colli Ripani, whom he had met back at the Fuoco event during Easter. (Her husband is from The Hague, the same city Stefan is from!) After Villa Imperium we were a bit in need to try a non-alcoholic wine. As we are writing this blog, we are drinking a Passerina from the Colli Ripani estate.. but the non-alcoholic, unfortunately, we cannot recommend.
Between the crowded, joyful atmosphere, the incredible historic setting, and a fantastic DJ keeping the energy high, it was an unforgettable night celebrating our local community. We are looking forward to summer 2027 and as soon as Bolle in Scala has a planned date, we will organise around it to be there.
